How Arm Liposuction Can Help with Your Flabbiness

Are you at a stable weight but struggle to get rid of the fat pockets on your arms no matter how much you diet and exercise?

A healthy diet combined with physical activity is great for your overall health and can reduce your risk for many chronic diseases. However, these healthy habits cannot spot-reduce fat. Arm flabbiness is often the consequence of genetics and weight fluctuation.

If the skin on your arms appears to be sagging, you may have experienced collagen and elastin loss in your skin, a consequence of aging, smoking, or excess sugar consumption. Some people develop skin elasticity issues due to not drinking enough water.

Our specialist at Lancaster Plastic Surgery, Dr. Richard M. Levin, regularly performs arm liposuction, a procedure that addresses flabbiness.

What does an arm liposuction procedure entail?

During arm liposuction, Dr. Levin surgically removes the excess fat tissues in your upper arms, leaving your arms toned and sculpted.

Arm liposuction doesn’t leave any scarring because the incisions are hidden and too small to be noticed, even when wearing a sleeveless blouse.

Anesthesia for liposuction can be general or local. Some patients don’t want to be awake during their surgery, so they opt for general anesthesia. Other patients don’t mind remembering the procedure and opt for local anesthesia.

After the procedure, most patients can return to work within a few days, but inflammation and sensitivity in the treated area can persist for up to two months.

Who is a good candidate for arm liposuction?

The ideal candidate is at a stable weight and in good health, and they have excess fat on their upper arms.

If your skin is in good condition and elastic, you may be a good candidate for liposuction. However, if your skin shows signs of laxity and sagginess, you may want to also opt for surgical removal of the excess skin, as liposuction alone can’t fix the issue of excess skin in this situation.
