Help for Your Body After You've Had a Baby

Have recent changes in your appearance prevented you from fully enjoying the experience of becoming a mother? After pregnancy, many women experience loose skin, weight gain, and sagging breasts, all of which negatively impact their self-esteem.

A mommy makeover is a plastic surgery package that Dr. Richard M. Levin, our expert at Lancaster Plastic Surgery, offers to his patients who want to retain their pre-pregnancy bodies.

Read on to learn what a mommy makeover entails, and find out if you’re a good candidate for one.

Mommy makeover 101

A mommy makeover is a series of procedures that can undo some of the negative changes of pregnancy.

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to what procedures a woman should have. Depending on your cosmetic goals, Dr. Levin can customize your mommy makeover. Procedures that are typically included in a mommy makeover include the following:

Depending on what procedures you choose to have done, recovery can last anywhere between four and six weeks. During this time, you’re recommended to rest and avoid lifting heavy objects.

Some mothers also want to improve their facial appearance after pregnancy. Dr. Levin offers injectables to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, add volume to hollow cheeks, and add volume to the lips. Injectables aren’t typically included in a mommy makeover, but they’re a popular and non-invasive way to rejuvenate and refresh the face.

How to prepare for a mommy makeover

Before undergoing surgery, you may be advised to avoid certain supplements, alcohol, and cigarettes, as these may interfere with the healing process. You may be also advised to get some lab tests for blood glucose, coagulation, white blood count, and potassium, among others. These tests will inform Dr. Levin if you’re healthy enough to undergo general anesthesia.

Who’s a good candidate for a mommy makeover?

You may be a good candidate for a mommy makeover if you’ve already given birth and don’t suffer from any chronic diseases that may impair healing. To get an idea of how a mommy makeover may be able to change your looks, head to our before and after gallery
